Working together for a good life in old age: Geriatrics Network East Saxony visits AAL Laboratory

On March 5, the university's AAL laboratory welcomed some special visitors: representatives from the hospital's volunteer visiting service and the East Saxony Geriatric Network came to find out about the latest developments and research approaches in the field of ambient assisted living.

Insights into assistive technologies for everyday life

During the visit, guests gained insights into innovative technologies and applications that support older people in their everyday lives and enable them to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. Among other things, intelligent assistance systems, digital health solutions, and technical aids to support care and assistance were presented.

Exchange between practice and research

The exchange offered a valuable opportunity to combine perspectives from practice, voluntary work, and research. Representatives from the visiting service and the geriatric network contributed their experiences from their daily work with older people and discussed specific needs, challenges, and possible areas of application for new technologies with the GAT Institute team.

Impetus for regional cooperation

This visit is of particular significance for the GAT Institute and the university: cooperation with regional players in the health and care sector strengthens the transfer of knowledge between research and practice. At the same time, such encounters provide important impetus for future projects, application-oriented research, and the further development of technical solutions for an aging society.

Furthermore, the visit underscores the university's role as a regional innovation partner. Through its close networking with healthcare institutions and voluntary structures, the AAL laboratory helps to align technological developments more closely with the actual needs of older people and their caregivers.

The GAT Institute would like to express its sincere thanks for the great interest and constructive exchange and looks forward to continuing its close cooperation with its regional partners.
