BePart opens up a view of structural change

Podcast, flyers and posters for the public

The Forschungsverbundprojekt BePart joint research project focuses on how participation and partnership can succeed in structural change.  It focuses on questions such as how social cohesion can be strengthened and what opportunities for social innovation arise in this process. To ensure that the results not only reach experts but also become visible in the region, various formats are now available: a two-part podcast, a project flyer and a poster make the research accessible to a wider audience.

Special podcast episode makes research audible

In the podcast „Nach meiner Kenntnis ist das sofort!“ (As far as I know, that's immediate!) by Clemens Kießling and Julian Nejkow, Prof. Dr. phil. Nadine Jukschat (HSZG) and Dr. Franz Erhard (University of Siegen) talk about their work in the  BePart research project in the anonymized small towns of Ostenau and Rabenfurt. The first part of the podcast focuses on field research: How can a non-local person gain access to the lives of local residents? What challenges arise in the process and what role does translation between science and everyday life play? Franz and Nadine also provide insights into the social significance of social science work based on formative experiences. The second part of the podcast focuses on the two case study locations: How do bottom-up engagement and top-down control differ in dealing with structural change? What potential for social innovation does this create—and where are the risks? Franz and Nadine make it clear that social issues and local cohesion are crucial—even if the economic side is usually at the forefront of debates.

Flyers and posters make research visible

In addition to the podcast, a project flyer and poster were also developed. Both formats present the key findings of the BePart research in a way that is easy to understand. The poster provides a concise overview of the project approach, qualitative methodology, and key research questions. The flyer expands on this content by describing the findings on the two locations studied—Rabenfurt and Ostenau—in greater detail, thus highlighting differences in local challenges and potential.
