In the Home Stretch to the trinatio-nal Future Congress

At the end of May, young people from the Euro-Neisse region and social work students gathered for Production III at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences to continue preparations for the Future Congress

From May 29 to 31, young people from the border triangle region and students from the HSZG gathered for the third “Future Production” event to continue preparing for the planned workshops and the World Café of the “Future Congress,” which will take place on June 18 at Telux in Weißwasser. During the event, the young people and students worked together to explore the fundamentals of communication and methods of facilitating discussions in depth. They also discussed the influence that cultures and hierarchies can have on communication and the methods facilitators can use to address these factors. The focus was always on how facilitators can support the young congress participants in clearly articulating their views and ideas for the region. Furthermore, the participants were introduced to the “World Café” method, which is particularly well-suited for discussions in large groups, and conducted a “trial run.”

In June, on the grounds of the former Telux glassworks in Weißwasser—which now houses a sociocultural center—young people from the region will engage in dialogue with representatives from government, politics, and civil society to discuss the region’s future. Topics will include shaping sustainable, future-oriented structural change, promoting social cohesion, and exploring opportunities for youth participation. Interested young people from the region are cordially invited to attend the Congress and join the discussion.
